I am a senior lecturer at Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Selangor, MALAYSIA. I teach Critical & Creative Thinking and HCI courses to IT students. I have been with UiTM for 20 years now.

I am also a researcher. I do research in Human Computer Interaction (HCI). My work is currently centred on improving elderly user experience with the technology. My students and I have developed some elderly-centred assistive technologies - calendar & safety apps -  and have won  silver awards at iidex 2014 & iidex 2015. Two major projects that I am spearheading are JobStreets for the Elderly and Personal Spiritual Informatics. Three of my PhD students are working on them.

With the explosion of social media and mobile apps, I am becoming more concerned with social values that these technologies might give us. Is it ethical to design a social network that people will spend hours on it unwisely? Is it sinful for a Muslim developer to design a gambling website? At present, three of my MSc IT students are researching the ethical and social values of sharenting.

I have carried out many usability projects - both websites and mobile apps - for Government departments, private organisations and higher learning institutions, in which I have trained my MSc and PhD students to be a usability tester.

I was trained as an ethnographer during my PhD years. Thus, I prefer to use qualitative methods in my research. I often use cultural probes such diaries and participant observation for my user personas.

My passion for teaching is beyond words. For three semesters, I have been experimenting with different teaching techniques for my students. The biggest challenge is how to make students think to learn!  To encourage my students to think differently, I have created a FB page dedicated for sharing the information related to critical & creative thinking. I also encourage them to decide on their own learning materials for my classes and am really excited to see how this affects their learning experience!
